Melasma Treatments for Hispanic Women

Hispanic women are the fastest growing population in the United States. According to the recent census results, there are over 14 million women that make up this demographic. Therefore, focusing marketing opportunities and skin care treatments to assist them can increase treatment variations, client retention and referrals. This lecture will educate you about advanced chemical peels, ultrasound technology and microdermabrasion, as well as the ingredients necessary to deliver visible results for melasma, sun damage, acne and anti-aging in as little as six weeks.
Tina Zillmann is a paramedical esthetician. She is the owner of the Skin Rejuvenation Clinique, Inc., and a national educator for Advanced Rejuvenating Concepts™. Recently, she was awarded the Entrepreneur Spirit Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners. She is also the president of Aesthetics International Association (AIA).

Hormones: How They Affect the Skin

There are so many factors that influence skin function, and at various ages, hormones are of the utmost importance. Hormones play a key role in the health, maturing and functioning of the human body. They are an integral and necessary part of human survival. In order to understand how hormones influence the skin, a thorough understanding of many factors is important. Throughout life there are so many things that influence hormonal activity within the body; some are part of the natural growth and aging process, others are a result of the environment, stress, medications, illness and lifestyle. The impact of hormones on the skin is key in the skin’s health, appearance and aging process.
Learn the physiology in order to help alter the effects:
- Understand the endocrine system, and the role that hormones play.
- Discover the many factors that alter and impact hormonal changes within the body.
- Discover the role that hormones play within the human body, and why.
- Learn how hormones directly influence the skin and it’s functions.
- Discover the impact that hormonal changes have on the appearance of the skin.
- Understand how to select proper treatments and products that will help improve a client’s skin that has been altered by hormonal changes.
Once you understand how key components of the body work, it is easier to help clients prevent and combat changes.
Michelle D’Allaird is a New York State licensed aesthetician and International CIDESCO Diplomat. She is the owner of the Aesthetic Science Institute in Syracuse and Latham, N.Y. She is a consultant and educator for international cosmetic companies. She is also a co-author of Salon Fundamentals, an aesthetics textbook.

The Naked Truth About Nutrition and Skin

How can I help my clients have beautiful and healthy skin? This presentation highlights the importance of pH balanced food intake that benefits the skin and overall health using a three-step nutritional purification program: Step one reveals how to release deposited impurities; step two explores the alkaline metabolisation of released acids and toxins; and step three concerns how the body is simultaneously engaged in the alkaline cleansing of acids, toxins and other harmful material through the skin, mucous membranes, the intestine, liver and kidneys. Practical applications of the three-step program will be presented.

Maria J. Villarreal is a certified biofeedback therapist. She holds credentials from the Institute of Quantum Biofeedback Naturopathic Medicine and is certified by the Neurotherapy and Biofeedback Certification Board. Villarreal is also a registered yoga therapist and trainer. She received her yoga and meditation training and certification from the Master Yoga Academy. She has owned and operated The Purnima Wellness Center in Bonita, Calif. She has been a practitioner and educator of plant based nutrition and integrative therapies. She provides training, consultation and educational services and conducts classes and retreat programs in mind-body concepts.

Introduction to Manual Lymphatic Drainage*

This workshop offers practical experience of manual lymph drainage techniques designed for the skin care technician. Participants will learn the fundamentals of skin and systemic physiology, anatomy and microcirculation of the vascular system and techniques of manual lymph drainage as it applies in a beauty treatment program. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and fluid dynamics of the lymphatic system and manual lymph drainage techniques (throat-face-chest). Wear comfortable clothes (a sports bra or two-piece swimsuit).

Dr. Reinhard Bergel is the president and founder of H-e-a-t. Inc. (Health-enhancement-accessories-training) Spa Kur Therapy Development. He is an advisor in Spa Kur facility development and conducts spa staff training. He has published numerous articles as well as the comprehensive SPA ENCYCLOPEDIA. Dr. Bergel is a founding member of the American Society of Lymphology and American Day Spa Association and has operated a health spa clinic and physical rehabilitation center for almost two decades. He has been practicing and teaching Lymphedema management since 1986.
